February Photography Meet-Up at Danbury Country Park | We Are Photo Community
At We Are Photo, our mission is simple: bring the fun back into photography while creating a supportive space for creativity and growth. Since launching in December 2022, our photography community has continued to grow, bringing together photographers of all skill levels through free photography meet-ups across Essex and Hertfordshire.
Our February meet-up on 22nd February was another fantastic event for the community. This time we headed to the beautiful
Danbury Country Park, one of Essex’s most scenic woodland locations and the perfect setting for a creative photography challenge.
With a mix of familiar faces and brand new members, the afternoon was full of creativity, conversation, and plenty of great photography.
A Photography Community for All Skill Levels
One of the things that makes We Are Photo special is the variety of photographers who attend our meet-ups. Some members are just starting their photography journey, while others are experienced photographers looking to refresh their creativity or connect with other local creatives.
Our meet-ups are designed to be relaxed, welcoming and inspiring, giving everyone the chance to practice photography in real environments while meeting like-minded people who share the same passion.

The February Photography Challenge
At every We Are Photo meet-up, we set our members a creative photography challenge to help spark ideas and encourage photographers to see their surroundings differently.
For this meet-up, photographers had to pick a subject out of a hat and then create a small collection of photographs based around that single theme.
The subjects included:
Trees
Tiny elements
The colour green
A woodland path
In addition to their chosen theme, everyone also had to capture one photograph that represented the country park itself.
The challenge gave everyone around 1.5 hours to explore the park, experiment with composition, and build a thoughtful set of images.
These creative prompts are a great way for photographers to practise important skills such as:
Observing details in nature
Storytelling through images
Creative composition
Using natural light in woodland environments
It’s always fascinating to see how differently each photographer interprets the same theme.
A Sudden Downpour and a Dash for Shelter
The weather held out beautifully for most of the meet-up, allowing everyone to wander through the woodland paths, capture the textures of the trees, and search for those tiny details hidden in nature.
But with around 30 minutes left, the British weather decided to add its own twist to the afternoon — the rain suddenly poured down.
Everyone made a quick dash for a nearby hut, which turned into a surprisingly fun and memorable moment. Instead of ending the meet-up early, the group gathered together inside, sharing stories, chatting about the photos they captured, and enjoying the unexpected adventure.
Sometimes those unplanned moments are what make events like this so special.

The feedback from the meet-up has been incredibly positive, and it’s always inspiring to see the creativity that comes out of these sessions.
