We Are Photo Kicks Off the Year with an Inspiring Photography Meet-Up in Chelmsford, Essex
At We Are Photo, our mission has always been simple: to bring fun back into photography and create a welcoming space for creativity, connection, and growth. Since launching in December 2022, our inclusive photography meet-up and online community has gone from strength to strength—bringing together photographers of all levels from across Essex, Hertfordshire, and beyond.
We recently held our first photography meet-up of the year, and it was the perfect reminder of why this community exists.
A Rainy but Rewarding Photo Walk in Central Park, Chelmsford
Our January photography meet-up in Chelmsford, Essex (UK) took place at Central Park, and despite the spitting rain, an amazing group of photographers showed up ready to create, connect, and have fun. The weather didn’t dampen spirits—in fact, it added atmosphere and character to the images captured on the day.
These photo walks in Essex are completely free and open to beginner, hobbyist, and professional photographers, making them a fantastic way to practice using your camera, build confidence, and meet like-minded creatives in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Monthly Photography Challenges to Spark Creativity
To keep things engaging and help photographers see the world differently, we set three photography challenges during the walk:
Landscape photography – capturing the beauty and mood of Central Park
Best viaduct photo – focusing on composition, lines, and structure
The Photographer’s Eye – spotting something that naturally catches your eye
These challenges are always a highlight of our photography meet-ups, encouraging members to experiment, push their creativity, and develop their personal style. Whether you shoot on a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or even a smartphone, the focus is on learning and enjoyment—not perfection.
Learning, Sharing, and Growing Together
One of the things that makes We Are Photo special is the sense of community. Throughout the photo walk, members chatted, shared tips, discussed camera settings, and offered encouragement to one another. Beginners learned from more experienced photographers, while professionals enjoyed slowing down, reconnecting with creativity, and giving back.
This mix of skill levels is intentional. We believe photography should be inclusive, supportive, and fun, not intimidating. Every meet-up is designed to help people grow at their own pace while feeling part of something bigger.

By the end of the walk, it was clear how inspiring the experience had been. Many members left feeling creatively recharged, excited about their images, and motivated to keep shooting.
